Hello and welcome to our website! Within this site, you will find the most recent information about elections in Carroll County including, but not limited to: the location of polling places; registering to vote; obtaining an absentee ballot; how to locate your voting precinct; and elected officials. GENERAL REGISTRAR

The Office of the General Registrar is responsible for the registration of, and proper maintenance of records and the ensuring of fair and impartial elections for the citizens of Carroll County. General elections are held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November. For town election, general elections take place the first Tuesday in May. The polls open at 6:00 a.m. and remain open until 7:00 p.m. Carroll County has five election districts and 18 precincts.

HOW TO REGISTER

The National Voter Registration Act adopted by the Virginia Legislature provides many new places to register to vote. Public Assistance Agencies, Disability Agencies, Discretionary Agencies, Federal Form 76, National Form, Department of Motor Vehicles, and in person at the registrar’s office. Virginia now permits mail registration on state-mandated forms that are available in many locations and can be printed from:

A citizen may register year-round, but must be registered 29 days before a general or primary election or 14 days before a special election. Virginia does not have registration by political party.
